Kim's Nan had breast cancer, and she has had several (so far benign) scares herself. Sally's breast cancer experience was through Hannah, Wildfire’s first designer: accompanying her to appointments and being a friend through the whole process. They enjoy using their design skills to help bring the words of young survivors and fighters to life. They look forward to each issue; reading about the contributors' experiences leaves them in awe of their bravery and honesty.⁠ In their words, "It's a privilege to be a part of a project that offers so many strong, young women a platform to tell their breast cancer stories.”
