The Luckiest Sister
“Once the water hit my skin, I broke crying. To my surprise, my sister stepped into the shower with me, her clothes on and everything. She just held me, letting me cry.”
When Tawny Rachelle was diagnosed at 39 with Stage 2 hormone-positive breast cancer, her twin sister dropped everything—packing up two young kids and driving cross-country—to be by her side.
This is a story about what love looks like when it rolls up its sleeves. About the kind of care that doesn’t flinch, even when everything falls apart.
“I never felt so vulnerable and protected at the same time.” In that moment, Tawny learned what it meant to be held—to be both vulnerable and protected at once.
This episode honors the fierce tenderness of sisterhood, and the power of showing up—fully clothed, heart first.
Writing Prompt Inspired by Today’s Episode
Set your timer for ten minutes, write without stopping or editing yourself. There is magic in leaning into that time. The prompt is:
A moment of care…
I want you to write about a time when someone showed up for you in a way that you didn't expect. Maybe it was a small gesture or maybe it changed everything. Describe what happened, but lean into how you felt. How did that moment change you?
If you find that you write best with a good prompt, check out our free prompts and learn about our writing workshops.
Happy writing! Until next time, take good care.
